I MIXED MY FIRST POLISH! ALL BY MYSELFFFF! i was inspired by the frankens that people are making over at makeupalley.com (which were inspired by deborah lippmann - glitter in the air). i will post photos of it on my nails soon. i’m still loving my 9-0-2-1-Orange mani.

i’m already so addicted to frankening, must make so many more!!!

mr. nailingit named this polish for me (he is a master at these sorts of things)… visualize balloons being let go into the blue sky on graduation day :)

polishes used in my recipe:
wet n wild fast dry - party of five glitters
wet n wild - french white
diamond cosmetics - tranquility
color club - clear top coat

Drugstore Dupes: MAC Venomous Villains

Not as dupey as Mean and Green and all of its clones, but still pretty close!

Here is MAC Bad Fairy in all its duochrome, glass flecked glory (photo from http://lucysstash.com, click through for full post)

And here is CQ 543 Rustic Dream, also a pinky red orange duochrome, with more of a chrome/metallic finish than Bad Fairy’s glass fleck (photo from http://nouveaucheap.blogspot.com, click photo for full post)

Obviously, they’re not exact dupes, but both are still super pretty, and CQ polishes are incredibly cheap and found at your local Rite Aid! The main downside I see is that glass flecks are my favorite polishes (think China Glaze Grape Juice, Watermelon Rind, Ahoy!, or Lighthouse) and metallic polishes like the CQ polish are so prone to streaking/visible strokes.

Overall, I still <3 the CQ polish and didn’t have much trouble with streaking because i put 2 thin coats over an orange base :)

I frankened this ‘Lady Sings the Blues’ dupe using Wet ‘n Wild clear polish as a base with Revlon Royal and a few drops of Wet ‘n Wild black. I layered my franken over NYX ‘Frizz Spots’, which is a big mess of different sized holographic hexagon glitter in a sheer black jelly base :)
